For the last three years, Youth Spirit Artworks has been passionately engaged in the process of building a village of small homes for transitional-age youth experiencing housing insecurity in the East Bay. The pandemic has not hindered their progress.
Volunteers from all over the Bay Area have convened in this empty lot as part of the Youth Spirit Artwork (YSA) Tiny Homes Project, which aims to build 100 tiny homes for housing-insecure young people in the East Bay over the next 10 years.
This spring, Youth Spirit Artworks is going to build a Tiny House Village for homeless youth in the East Bay. The village—which will be ready for move-in by fall 2019—could be the first youth-focused Tiny House Village in America.
