We can lay down on our backs
in the grass
and look for stars
to wish upon
we can wish for world peace
to abolish
hatred
prejudice
poverty
homelessness
child abuse
and all
other crimes
because there are plenty of others
but we hopelessly
close our eyes
because the forces of evil
are against us
and there is no one
star in the sky
for us to wish upon
or to help us
just as if there are
no stars in the sky
ever.
